For millions of students across the country, school breakfast and lunch programs provide not just convenience, but a critical source of daily nutrition. The National School Lunch Program (NSLP) and the School Breakfast Program (SBP) serve as lifelines for low-income families, ensuring that children receive balanced meals that contribute to their health, focus, and overall well-being. When school is out, the structured support of these meal programs disappears, leaving many families scrambling to fill the gap. The burden is especially heavy on working parents, single-parent households, and families already struggling with food insecurity.
